fig. 5 – Demand for better disabled
access to village facilities

Finally we asked about disabled access to the public areas of the village, as shown in fig. 5.

Unsurprisingly, the most frequently used places had the highest demand for better access. Of those that offered other suggestions, almost half expressly mentioned the Post Office. Assuming that some people will have imagined that the Post Office was covered under the Shops category, it is one place that needs consideration.

Unfortunately, the bulk of the facilities in Parson Drove are very restricted in the space available for installing such access, or are limited by building regulations (e.g. listed buildings). However, improved access will still be considered where it is reasonable to do so.

Points To Take Forward

  • Improve verge maintenance (litter removal and mowing)
  • More litter bins and dog litter bins.
  • Changes to the household recycling service (increased frequency or capacity)
  • The glass recycling bin on the green needs to be more usable by the local community. It should not be used by local businesses.
  • Further recycling facilities for other materials.
  • Improve disabled access to premises where it is reasonable to do so.
